Brian and Aimee originally planned to say ?I do? at a friend?s winery not far from their home, but zoning laws and permit requirements led them elsewhere. Thankfully, their ?Plan B? turned out to be the best case scenario. Mendocino, California was sentimental for the couple for a myriad of reasons: ?Brian first told me he loved me in Mendocino and of course I expressed my love for him in return!? says Aimee. ?[For our ceremony], Pine Beach Cove is small and private and the rocks jutting out from the ocean are simply priceless. Brian proposed at our family friend?s restaurant just outside Puerto Vallarta in Punta Mita, Mexico with our toes in the sand?we were so excited to exchange our vows in the same fashion.?
The sentimental touches didn?t end there. In fact, Brian and Aimee knew almost all of their vendors personally. So, for them, their destination wedding was the definition of a family affair. The couple also completed countless DIY projects, including making their driftwood arch by hand while on a camping trip. Come W-Day, the arch was a stunning and natural addition to the couple?s beach ceremony.?
After a gorgeous ceremony and a night filled with joy and dancing, Brian and Aimee?s guests were given a very special favor: a CD of long songs which the couple had created together years before. The couple made the CD shortly before Aimee went abroad to Europe just after they had started dating. Needless to say, I?m sure their guests loved the sentimental take-away.
Because Aimee planned and designed almost every aspect of her and Brian?s wedding, she has some special advice for other women planning their own destination wedding. ?I am a huge planner, and I always get things done early. Don?t be surprised by how many ?little? things pop up at the last minute. No matter how hard you work, there will still be more that you will find you want to do. Make sure to enjoy the process, and most importantly, the day!?
