staminaPhysical stamina is vital to maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle.? There is a saying, ?you are what you eat,? and while this is very true, doing the right type of exercise, as well as?paying attention to your diet, will ensure that you remain physically and mentally active and keep your physical stamina at its maximum.? Being overweight and/or obese can affect your physical stamina as well as other undesirable health conditions but you can take charge of your health and add years to your life.? Read further to understand how.

Obesity and the Effect on Physical Stamina

Obesity is one of the biggest killers in the United States today and its effect on the body is critical as it can cause many harmful side effects.? According to America?s Health Rankings,?obesity is one of the most significant threats to health in the U.S as it contributes significantly to many different chronic diseases such as diabetes, stroke, heart disease and certain types of cancers as well as overall poor health.? Two-thirds of adults in the United States are considered overweight or morbidly obese.? One of the biggest problems you may face if you struggle with overweight or obesity is a total lack of physical stamina caused by your condition.? And of course the more weight you gain, the harder it becomes to get motivated to exercise.? But it is possible for you to take control over your life with a consistent regime of a healthy diet and exercise?you will soon begin to feel better and have more energy, which will in turn lead to an increase in physical stamina.

The Benefits of Increased Physical Stamina

Whenever you exercise, your body produces endorphins (often called the body?s natural pain relievers).? You may well have heard the term?getting an??endorphin rush??and this is what happens when you engage in exercise that will increase your physical stamina.? After a good workout at the gym or at home, you will come away feeling full of energy ? this is the feeling of the endorphins working their magic.? Increased physical stamina will enable you to make the most of your day, as tiredness and exhaustion will become less of a problem.? Whether at work or play, you will feel better mentally, look better physically, and be more equipped to handle life?s challenges.

Potential Problems Caused by a Lack of Physical Stamina

Fatigue and lack of energy are the biggest problems you may face as both can affect everything you do in your daily life.? Even a?mild form of exercise will help?you to feel more able to cope.? A lack of physical stamina can affect your self-esteem inwardly and your overall results outwardly, since if you are constantly tired, even the small things will take more of an effort.? This can include your home life as a parent in coping with your children and domestic chores, your relationship with your partner or spouse, or even your spiritual life.? Leading a busy lifestyle will eventually require you to adopt a more physically active lifestyle or you will feel the results in achy joints, fatigue, and a general sense of stress and pressure.

The Best Types of Exercise to Increase Physical Stamina

Exercise can take many forms as long as you are enjoying yourself!? Take an energetic walk, play sports like basketball, swimming, and tennis or go for a hike.? The important thing is to increase your heart-rate and respiration, pushing your body just one step further each time.? If you do not increase your heart rate and challenge your capabilities then physical stamina will elude you?the whole point is to increase your heart functionality and efficiencies to improve your overall health.? This type of commitment combined with a healthy diet will ensure that you are able to keep making progress toward your physical fitness goals.

Try to exercise at least once a day.? Start with an easy routine, perhaps walking, cycling or jogging and build it up gradually.? It is important that once you feel tired you push yourself just a little bit more ? maybe another five minutes ? but not to the point of exhaustion.?? After a couple of weeks start to vary our workout by adding strength training or jump roping which is a fun and effective way to exercise.? If you have chosen walking or jogging as your exercise, you can make it a little more challenging by holding light weights while you exercise as long as it doesn?t affect your form.

Make a commitment to always find the time in your schedule for exercise even if you can only manage 15-20 minutes at one time.? You can even split your workout into three 10-minute sessions if necessary in the beginning and eventually work your way to 30 consecutive minutes.? The overall benefits to your heart, lungs and skeletal system will be excellent and your general feeling of well-being will make it all worthwhile.

Letter: More Leadership Needed from Town on Special Ed Mess ...

To the editor:

At its last meeting, the Board of Selectmen discussed expanding our elementary schools due to burgeoning enrollment. With members of the Board of Education in the room, I expected someone to ask about the swelling controversy regarding Special Education in Darien. ? Nothing.

It is not the Selectmen's job to set policy for the public schools, or to instruct the Board of Education how to spend its annual operating appropriation. But the Selectmen do have a leadership role in town. They can set the tone for how everyone regards the more vulnerable among us. As of this writing (July 28, 2013), they remain silent.

The CT Department of Education found that Darien violated State and Federal laws regarding the rights of special needs students and their families. New information about this shameful and embarrassing situation (including inappropriate actions by members of the Board of Finance) is revealed every week.1 What are our leaders doing?

On July 25th, the Darien Times astutely observed that the Board of Education's proposed (but not started) internal investigation could be compromised by its law firm's conflicts of interest.2 On July 26th, the Darien News reported that the Board of Education is complaining about the cost of complying with the FOIA requests that uncovered the wrongdoing in the first place.3 Neither revelation inspires confidence that the Board can effectively lead efforts to root out the rot.

E-mails acquired through FOIA requests show that members of the Board of Finance were willing to bankroll the Board of Education's efforts to justify flawed policy.4 Making open-ended financial commitments by e-mail is inconsistent with the Board of Finance's role to oversee Darien's spending in an open and transparent way.

Special Education is not an expensive nuisance; it's a civil right.5 Incurring costs to first defend and then correct avoidable civil rights violations, and to re-tool the damaged Special Education Department are the true expensive nuisances. Re-building trust will take more than money. That requires leadership.

Samsung, Lenovo eating Apple's lunch in China

FORTUNE -- "How Samsung is beating Apple in China," read the headline on the Reuters newswire Friday. The piece quoted Tim Cook high up describing China as a huge opportunity for Apple "over the arc of time."

"But time looks to be on the side of rival Samsung Electronics Co Ltd," the story continued, cleverly using Cook's words against him and noting that Apple's revenue in Greater China fell 43% sequentially last quarter and 14% year over year.

"It's not totally clear why that occurred," Cook said on a conference call with analysts.

The Reuters piece -- written by Melanie Lee and Miyoung Kim from Seoul and Guangzhou, China -- would have you believe that the reason it occurred was as plain as the nose on Tim Cook's face: Samsung.

But data released the same day by IDC and Strategy Analytics tell a different story. It's not just Samsung that's eating Apple's lunch in China, it's LG, ZTE, Lenovo, Alcatel, Huawei and others too small and numerous to name in charts of the world's top smartphone vendors.

Although Samsung continues to lead the world in the number of smartphones shipped -- 72.4 million in the June quarter, according to IDC, more than double Apple's (AAPL) 31.2 million -- Samsung is no longer the growth leader.

LG and ZTE's shipments more than doubled year over year last quarter, albeit from a much smaller base than Samsung's. Others may have grown even faster, according to IDC's press release:

"Several vendors, including Alcatel and Huawei, had high double- and triple-digit growth rates in the second quarter for their Android-based offerings shipped to high-growth countries such as China and India. In 2Q13, these vendors from outside the Top 5 accounted for 44.8% of the overall shipment volume, up from 42.2% in the same quarter one year ago."

"The story is no longer Apple versus Samsung," Forrester's Bryan Wang, told the New York Times. "Going forward, they will both face similar challenges."

LIVE: Meath v Tyrone, All Ireland senior football round 4 qualifier

An epic day of football concluded at Croke Park as Meath and Tyrone topped the bill at headquarters. ?Who would advance to the last eight?

As always, we?d love to hear your comments. Send them to cian.oconnell9@gmail.com, tweet them?@TheScoreGAA,?find us on Facebook, or leave a comment below.

17.51 ? Welcome to Croke Park as we commence the build up to the last of the three matches on today?s bill. ?Improving Meath certainly rattled Dublin in the Leinster decider, but they meet a Tyrone outfit that is developing nicely.? Three wins in the qualifiers over Offaly, Roscommon, and Kildare have injected Tyrone with both hope and momentum.? They hit Croke Park keen to advance to August football again.

17.57 ? Mickey Harte has made no secret about the ?real stuff? beginning on the famous Bank Holiday weekend.? Meath, though, clearly intend to be involved in the last eight too.? So it is all to play for and stay with us for the action.

18.02 ? No word of any changes yet so we currently expect the teams to line out as follows:

MEATH: Paddy O?Rourke; Donal Keogan, Kevin Reilly, Bryan Menton; Padraic Harnan, Mickey Burke, Seamus Kenny; Brian Meade, Conor Gillespie; Eamonn Wallace, Damien Carroll, Graham Reilly; Stephen Bray, Joe Sheridan, Mickey Newman.

TYRONE: Pascal McConnell; Ryan McKenna, Conor Clarke, Cathal McCarron; Ciaran McGinley, Peter Harte, Conor Gormley; Colm Cavanagh, Sean Cavanagh; Mattie Donnelly, Mark Donnelly, Joe McMahon; Darren McCurry, Stephen O?Neill, Martin Penrose.

REFEREE: Maurice Deegan (Laois).

18.05 ? Plenty of questions will be answered over the next couple of hours.? Can Meath build on a solid provincial campaign?? Are Tyrone emerging as the real deal once more?? Will the Royals be able to cope with Tyrone?s runners?? Will Eamonn Wallace?s blistering speed do damage?

18.08 ? Decent numbers from Meath and Tyrone gathering at Croker watching the end of a highly entertaining Galway versus Cork battle. ?Alan Mulholland?s Tribesmen lead by three with 22 minutes remaining.

18.16 ? Tyrone somehow nearly always manage to reinvent themselves for a qualifier journey, but they face a truly tricky test this evening. ?Meath will feel, though, that they can make the quarter finals too. ?Mick O?Dowd has been safe and sensible and his Royal panel have bought into the new regime so far.

18.21 ? The shock is on in the second match at headquarters. ?Galway three in front with 10 on the clock.

18.25 ? Cork goal in Croker. ?Extra-time a possibility ? which would impact on the start time for Meath v Tyrone.

18.31 ? There won?t be any need for extra-time here, Meath v Tyrone will start at 7. ?Cork finishing well. ?Galway just don?t have enough depth in their panel.

18.36 ? The Artane Band are out, Galway and Cork players are departing from the field. ?The warm up cones are being set up. ?Twenty five minutes to throw-in.

18.43 ? Getting a small bit nippy here. The Upper tier of the Hogan Stand can be a fridge in February or March. ?Not that bad today, but tropical it aint.

18.44 ? Meath on the pitch and now they have been joined by Tyrone, who are getting their team photograph taken. ?Will it be used in the All Ireland quarter final match programme?

18.45 ?

18.51 ? Throw-in edging closer here. ?Eight minutes away from now the battle will start. ?How will Tyrone match up with the Meath attack? ?That is one of the things we will be keeping an eye on.

18.59 ? Good Championship roar at the end of the National Anthem. ?Ready to rock at HQ.

19.01 ? Interesting here. ?Conor Gormley will be a sweeper for Tyrone. ?Joe Sheridan gone to centre forward being policed by Peter Harte. ?Match on.

19.03 ? Tyrone have Cathal McCarron on Stephen Bray. ?Padraic Harnan currently the spare man in Meath?s defence. ?Conor Gormley the Tyrone sweeper.

19.03 ? Fast and physical early on. ?Hefty collisions all over the shop.

19.05 ? No score in the first four minutes, but Meath probing. ?They have squandered two chances. ?The Royals winning lots of possession at centrefield.

19.07 ? This has the makings of a genuine tactual duel on the line. ?Most of the match ups are tasty. ?Donal Keogan is on Darren McCurry. ?Kevin Reilly on Stephen O?Neill. ?Those two carry huge importance.

19.07 ? Goal for Meath!

19.08 ? Meath 1-0 Tyrone 0-0: 7 mins ? We suggested pre match that Eamonn Wallace could have an impact here. ?He has, bursting through to blast a brilliant seventh minute goal for the Royals.

19.09 ? Meath 1-0 Tyrone 0-1: 9 mins - Darren McCurry replies with a free for Tyrone. ?That score was required.

19.11 ? Meath 1-0 Tyrone 0-2: 10 mins ? This game is moving along at a nice clip. ?Mattie Donnelly has kicked a fine point on the run for Tyrone.

19.13 ? Meath 1-1 Tyrone 0-2: 12 mins ? Mickey Newman?s free taking was a key feature for Meath in Division Three of the NFL. ?Newman is bringing that form into the summer. ?A splendid long range effort off the sod.

19.16 ? Meath 1-1 Tyrone 0-2: 15 mins ? Mickey Newman has just dragged a free wide from an acute angle, but this match has been lively.

19.18 ? Meath 1-1 Tyrone 0-3: 17 mins - The first sight of Stephen O?Neill?s class. ?O?Neill gathered a sweet Peter Harte delivery and knocked it over on the turn.

19.19 ? Meath 1-2 Tyrone 0-3: 19 mins - Mickey Newman lofts a free from a difficult angle.

19.21 ? Meath 1-2 Tyrone 0-4: 20 mins - Darren McCurry curls over a free with a delightful swing of the left boot from just under the Hogan.

19.22 ? Meath 1-2 Tyrone 0-5: 22 mins - Sean Cavanagh restores parity with a free for Tyrone.

19.24 ? For those with an interest in the statistical side of the game. ?Meath have scored 1-2 from six chances in the first quarter, Tyrone 0-5 from 7.

19.26 ? Tyrone 0-6 Meath 1-2: 24 mins ? Sean Cavanagh nails a free from a similar position near the Cusack Stand. ?Tyrone shading the last 10 minutes or so, the Cavanagh?s prompting them from the middle.

19.27 ? Tyrone 0-7 Meath 1-2: 27 mins ? Sean Cavanagh clips a third free in a row, Tyrone have hit four on the spin.

19.29 ? Tyrone 0-8 Meath 1-2: 28 mins ? Leading by example Sean Cavanagh has rifled over a superb point from play. ?Tyrone motoring smoothly now. ?Five points unanswered ? utterly dominant at the moment.

19.32 ? Want to know how hard Meath are finding it now? ?Thirteen Tyrone players inside their own half. ?Meath unable to get shots off never mind scores. ?The Royals haven?t registered from play since Eamonn Wallace?s seventh minute goal. Half-time is five minutes away.

19.33 ? Tyrone 0-9 Meath 1-3: 31 mins ? Mickey Newman landed a 45 to briefly disturb Tyrone, who had been dictating the tempo. ?Sean Cavanagh responds with another beauty from play.

19.36 ? Tyrone 0-10 Meath 1-4: 34 mins - Stephen Bray has kicked an improbable point for Meath, but Mattie Donnelly then hits one for the Red Hands.

19.38 ? Half-time Tyrone lead 0-11 to 1-4. Darren McCurry splits the uprights with a 45 to give Tyrone a deserved four point advantage at the break.

19.39 ? From 15 scoring chances Tyrone have registered 0-11. ?In the modern game, that is smashing efficiency. ?Meath have hit 1-4 from 8 and five of those have come from dead ball situations. ?Those nuggets of information simply capture how in control Tyrone have been since their somewhat shaky start.

19.42 ?

Scorers for Tyrone: Sean Cavanagh 0-5 (2fs), Darren McCurry 0-3 (2f, 145),?Mattie Donnelly 0-2, Stephen O?Neill 0-1.

Scorers for Meath: Eamonn Wallace 1-0, Mickey Newman 0-3 (2f, 145), Stephen Bray 0-1.

19.43 ?

19.45 ? So can Tyrone continue to be so clinical in the second period? ?Is there a kick in Meath? ?Old school defiance style, perhaps. Presently it is not looking good for the Royals, but they have launched Croke Park comeback missions before.

19.53 ? 32,761 - the official attendance at Croke Park for the triple header.

19.55 ? Substitution for Tyrone-Mark Donnelly replaced by Aidan Cassidy.

19.56 ? Tyrone 0-11 Meath 1-5: 36 mins - Encouraging second half start for Meath as Mickey Newman bangs over his fourth point of the evening.

19.58 ? Tyrone 0-12 Meath 1-5: 38 mins - Every time Sean Cavanagh has been asked to do something, he has just done it. ?Cavanagh has stroked over another free.

19.58 ? Penalty for Meath!

19.59 ? Goal for Meath! Mickey Newman steps up and rattles the Tyrone net.

20.01 ? Tyrone 0-12 Meath 2-5: 39 mins - It really is game on now. ?Conor Gormley fouled Seamus Kenny in the square and Mickey Newman expertly converts the resultant penalty.

20.02 ? Joe Sheridan replaced by Brian Farrell for Meath.

20.05 ? Tyrone 0-12 Meath 2-6: 45 mins ? There certainly is a kick in Meath. ?Eamonn Wallace has kicked an excellent point to restore parity. ?Suddenly Tyrone aren?t as cool and composed.

20.07 ? Tyrone 0-12 Meath 2-6: 47 mins - This match is being played at a blistering pace. ?Meath?s decent travelling contingent are enjoying the third quarter so far.

20.10 ? Tyrone 0-12 Meath 2-6: 50 mins - Tyrone craft a goal chance as substitute Aidan Cassidy releases Colm Cavanagh, who is denied by Paddy O?Rourke. ?Darren McCurry kicks the subsequent 45 wide.

20.10 ? Peadar Byrne in for Damien Carroll for Meath, Dermot Carlin replaces Ryan McKenna for Tyrone.

20.12 ? Meath 2-7 Tyrone 0-12: 52 mins ? How do Meath unearth forwards from almost nowhere? ?Eamonn Wallace continues to do damage this summer, he has now claimed 1-2 this evening. ?Pacy and polished.

20.14 ? Tyrone 0-13 Meath 2-7: 53 mins ? Replacement Aidan Cassidy puts Tyrone level again. ?Worryingly for them, though, is the fact that they only took one chance from seven in the third quarter. ?They were far slicker before the interval.

20.16 ? Tyrone 0-14 Meath 2-7: 55 mins - Sean Cavanagh is ice cool scoring a pressure free. ?Tyrone lead with 15 on the clock. ?It is delicately poised.

20.17 ? Tyrone 0-15 Meath 2-7: 57 mins ? Darren McCurry, a player regarded highly by Mickey Harte, has hit a tidy point from play, who are getting some joy up front.

20.19 ? Tyrone 0-16 Meath 2-8: 59 ?mins - Darren McCurry and Eamonn Wallace trade points as we enter the final furlong.

20.20 ?

20.22 ? Tyrone 0-16 Meath 2-9: 62 mins ? What an absorbing match this has been. ?Mickey Newman scores a free to leave the minimum between the teams.

20.25 ? Tyrone 0-16 Meath 2-9: 65 mins - This is going down to the wire. ?Martin Penrose has just been replaced by Kyle Coney. ?For Meath their great stalwart Seamus Kenny has made way for Ciaran Lenihan.

20.28 ? Tyrone 0-16 Meath 2-9: 67 mins - Meath have squandered a couple of chances to get back on terms. ?Goalkeeper Paddy O?Rourke fired a mammoth free wide and Wallace has since struck the post. ?The margins.

20.30 ? Tyrone 0-17 Meath 2-9: 70 minutes - Sean Cavanagh adds a sublime free kick to his account.

20.30 ? Tyrone?s Stephen O?Neill sent off for a second booking.

20.31 ? Three minutes additional time to be played.

20.31 ? Tyrone 0-17 Meath 2-9: 70 mins - Tyrone just need to avoid conceding a goal. ?That is their mission in the closing 90 seconds.

20.33 ? Meath winning frees in the scoring zone, but they need a goal.

20.34 ? Tyrone 0-17 Meath 2-9: Full-time. A thrilling match ends in a welter of excitement. ?The Royals are out, Tyrone in the last eight. ?Mickey Harte proving what a shrewd sideline operator he is.

20.36 ?

Scorers for Tyrone: Sean Cavanagh 0-8 (5fs), Darren McCurry 0-5 (3f, 145), Mattie Donnelly 0-2, Stephen O?Neill 0-1, Aidan Cassidy 0-1.

Scorers for Meath: Mickey Newman 1-5 (1-0 pen, 4fs, 145), Eamonn Wallace 1-3, Stephen Bray 0-1.

20.37 ? Thanks for joining us at Croke Park. ?A thoroughly enjoyable day at headquarters. ?Three matches, done and dusted. ?We will head for Thurles tomorrow for three more. ?The Irish sporting summer is alive and kicking.

Canada obliged to reveal info on abuse of aboriginal school kids

A superior court of general jurisdiction in Canada has ordered the government to release millions of documents on its residential school system, which will reveal secrets of abuse and torture of aboriginal children at government-funded schools, Press TV reports.

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice ordered the government to hand over the documents to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).

The Commission has said that the documents will allow the public, researchers and educators to learn more about what happened to the 150,000 First Nations, Metis and Inuit children, who were taken from their homes, often against their parents? will.

?We knew of those records, which talked about the experiments of withholding food from children while they were in residential schools so the government could see what the impact of poor nutrition or malnutrition would be on people,? said Justice Murray Sinclair.

In addition, the documents are believed to reveal evidence of widespread sexual and mental abuse as well as torture of native children living at more than 130 government-funded residential schools.

The residential school system was launched in the 1870s and the last one closed in 1996.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper?s government had initially denied the request, saying it was of no relevance and that it would be too costly.

The documents as well as thousands of statements from former aboriginal students are to be housed by the National Research Center at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg.

92% Frances Ha

All Critics (118) | Top Critics (36) | Fresh (108) | Rotten (10)

In your twenties you decide on the final version of you. Sophie is working on it; Frances is stuck in her crazy, clueless, can't-pay-the-rent stage.

It's a tribute to Gerwig's performance, somehow both clumsy and elegant, that she wins us over despite ourselves, that we come to appreciate her aimlessness in a goal-oriented society ...

This is an odd film (creepier than it knows), and even if you feel the atmospheric company of Dunham-ism, with a little of Whit Stillman, Henry Jaglom, and Woody Allen, the core influence on Noah Baumbach's film is fifty years older or more.

Baumbach usually builds his films around difficult protagonists, but Frances is entirely endearing, at once silly and deep, hopeless and promising.

The dialogue and editing are zippy and generally charming, combining with the tart observations of 20-something culture to create a nice frisson.

A black-and-white salute to the French New Wave (the score is borrowed from Georges Delerue, composer of many a Truffaut and Godard film) that manages to be very much of this moment ...

It's a likable movie, with some nice moments of both comedy and pathos, and beautifully shot, but for me the reverence for its heroine was not completely earned, and the arrowhead was missing: the decisive jab of satire, of insight, of love.

This film may look like one of those annoyingly mannered independent films, with its wacky young cast and arty-farty black and white photography, but it's actually a fresh, smart and very funny comedy.

Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig have carved out, with effortless elegance and ease, a cinematic space for a woman to be, unapologetically, herself.

Frances Ha both acknowledges and earns its place in the tradition of the New York bourgeois comedy, encoding the angst of social mores in witty dialogue. Make no mistake: the cinematic slacker has come of age.

An unlikely feelgood crowd-pleaser - Frances Ha is sweet, funny, darling and almost unbearably lovely. And thankfully, everyone enunciates.

Brilliantly directed and beautifully shot, this is an utterly delightful, warm-hearted and very funny comedy with a wonderful script and a terrific central performance from Greta Gerwig.

Despite Gerwig's natural appeal and talent as a performer, Frances' self-absorption and flakiness begin to grate.

When is a film a throwaway sketch that's so good it's frameable? When it's Frances Ha.

Much of the reason why Frances Ha is a far more well-crafted and enjoyable piece of cinema than either Lola Versus or Damels in Distress.

The story becomes chaotic and disjointed, but that's the point: Frances is tumbling towards her 30s with no sense of direction and this is where Gerwig excels, deftly pulling you along on a bumpy ride.

Baumbach and Gerwig have co-written a film about the point when spontaneous, giddy arrested adolescence ceases to be endearing and threatens to be annoying.

Anchored by a charming performance from Greta Gerwig, it's as light and breezy as a walk in Central Park, and just as refreshing.

A joyous portrait of an unformed personality that should strike chords of recognition in all who watch it.

Frances Ha could be THE post-college-angst comedy of the '10s. This is what happens when Mumblecore grows up and turns into a real movie.

Agreeable low-budget modern-day urban comedy.

Frances Ha is a refreshingly contemporary film, exploring 20-something hipster ennui with accuracy, empathy and humour.

As long as you remember to laugh, Frances Ha is a tolerable experience. Forget the "ha ha" and Frances Ha is beyond unbearable. I found this an odd and often frustrating truth, but it's what makes Noah Baumbach's new movie a success.

Gerwig keeps you on side and rooting for Frances to get her act together in what becomes an affectionate salute to messy lives, an endearing underachiever and a New York state of mind.

We Now Have A Few Details About Kerry Washington?s Secret Wedding!

When we first learned that Kerry Washington had secretly married NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha, there were so few details about the wedding that I was ready to call it an elopement. But apparently, an actual ceremony took place with guests, cake, and all that. Although, according to a close source, it was still a very small affair, Kerry?s parents were not the only witnesses there, which is what we were hearing before. All in all, it sounded like a very sweet, very intimate affair. Click inside to learn more!

People has the story:

Olivia Pope may thrive in complicated situations, but Kerry Washington likes to keep it simple.

That?s according to a source, who attended the Scandal star?s top-secret wedding to San Francisco 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, 32, last month in Idaho.

?Everything was held at one of Kerry?s friend?s houses,? the source tells PEOPLE. ?They flew a few people out on this little private plane. The house was beautiful.?

As for the ceremony, which took place outdoors on the property, ?It was small, just family and close friends,? says the attendee. ?They said their own vows, people stayed at the house. It was really simple and sweet.?

And though Washington, 36, has rocked some bold red carpet looks, on her big day she opted for minimalist chic. ?The dress was plain white, slim-fitting, like it could have been off a rack,? says the source. ?It was really regular.?

Perhaps less is more for the Emmy nominee: ?I?m blessed,? Washington told PEOPLE just after learning of her nomination for Scandal. ?I?m really happy in all areas of my life.?

Just yesterday Kerry spoke out a teeny, tiny bit about her new life as a married woman and she sounded really happy. Plus she?s got that whole Emmy nomination thing popping off, so I?m sure this is a lovely time for her.

I can sooo picture this gorgeous little wedding that I wasn?t invited to, lol! Sigh. Kerry in a simple, white dress, looking kind of Olivia Pope-ish? if Olivia Pope and Fitz ever got it together and jumped the broom, lol. I love it!

Here?s hoping that one day? maybe? maybe even one day soon, we?ll get to actually see these two together. And don?t even get me started on a little baby Kerry? Omgeeeee!

What To Ask Franchises For Sale. ? Business ? Franchising

betterluck.jpg

When looking for franchises for sale in the UK you should be aware that all franchise offers have to disclose a document to all prospective buyers a certain amount of time before any contract can be signed. Make sure that your read the entire document and understand all of the criteria enclosed within the franchise opportunity. We are now going to look over the first set of criteria that needs to be researched that will be included in the document. This first set of criteria will help you get a clear idea of what to ask the franchise before you sign anything.

We will start off by looking at the background of the franchise. In the document it must state that directors of the business and what they have done previous, take into account not only their business experience but also their experience in running franchise systems. The document should also state how long they have been with the business and show their track record with this company. Looking at franchises for sale with an inexperienced franchise owner is more of a risk than investing in an established experienced franchise owner.

The next criteria that the document takes into account is the legislation regarding the franchise and the franchise directors. The information in the document will detail any convictions like fraud, business law, or other similar offences in the UK. It will also detail if the current franchise has any involvement with law cases or civil actions in the franchises history. If any of these come up in the document and a number of cases have been reported this will indicate that the franchise has not been living up to their agreement and the franchisees have been unhappy with the service offered. There has been cases where names have been withheld from this document to hide old cases concerning the individual.

The document will detail any circumstances involving the directors or the franchise itself and whether they have been declared bankrupt at any time. This information will help you gain a better understating of the financial security of the franchise opportunity and help you anticipate if the franchise is capable of upholding all of their promises.

The final section we look into in this article is the criteria of restrictions that will be in the document. When looking for franchises for sale you will always come across restrictions with every franchise. These restrictions will be a good starting point when choosing a franchise opportunity. They restrictions limit how you manage and operate each franchise, the document should detail information like where you will purchase your products from, the products you sell, the customers that you sell the products too and in which location you are allowed to sell your products in. You must understand these restrictions before signing any agreement as these will be the basis of how you operate the franchise and in the long run make it successful. Probably the most significant restriction is location, the franchise may have numerous outlets in a county and the restrictions of opening a franchise in a certain area may be beneficial for one franchisee but severely damage the incom e of another franchisee if opened close by.

'Armageddon year' for Garrett? Jerry Jones says no

(AP) ? Jerry Jones opened his 25th training camp as owner of the Dallas Cowboys sounding as if coach Jason Garrett would be around for 25 more.

The first vote of confidence came even before someone could ask Saturday in the annual "State of the Cowboys" address that Jones gives on the eve of camp.

The words got stronger after the questions started. Jones said it was a "mistake" to consider this a make-or-break year for Garrett, who missed the playoffs with 8-8 records in each of his two full seasons. Both ended with losses in finales to NFC East rivals with a playoff berth on the line.

The owner and his coach shared a concert-like stage for nearly 40 minutes in what has become something of a summer tradition for Jones since he bought the team in 1989. Garrett had to duck out for the first team meeting of camp, and as he was walking off the stage, Jones was asked if it was fair to say Garrett's job was on the line.

Jones leaned into the microphone, said "no" in several ways and even suggested that he was looking beyond the two years remaining on Garrett's contract.

"I look to the future with Jason and not just through his contract that we're sitting here with right now," Jones said. "But it is not what is implied when you say, 'Well, this is an Armageddon year for him.' It is not that with me."

The questions started as soon as the Cowboys overhauled their defensive staff a few weeks into the offseason, and not long after Jones said he was going to make things "uncomfortable" at team headquarters.

Fueled by the comment, speculation centered on Garrett being a rubber stamp for the firing of defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, the hiring of replacement Monte Kiffin and the decision to move play-calling duties from Garrett to Bill Callahan.

Kiffin might not have helped things when he said his first phone calls were from the owner and his son, executive vice president Stephen Jones.

Garrett had a stock answer for the "hot seat" issue all offseason: Everyone in the NFL is on it. The question for him Saturday was getting out of his personal .500 rut ? and the team's. The Cowboys are 128-128 going back to the start of the 1997 season.

"We are what we are to this point," Garrett said. "But at some point in your life, you have to let the past go, whether it's been great, good, mediocre or not so good. And you focus on learning from those experiences and getting better and take advantage of the opportunity in front of you."

Garrett and Jones think the Cowboys are better because they're healthier than they were after a 28-18 loss to Washington that kept them out of the playoffs.

The optimism has mostly to do with a defense that was missing six key players by the end of the season: linebackers Sean Lee and Bruce Carter, linemen Jay Ratliff and Kenyon Coleman, safety Barry Church and cornerback Orlando Scandrick.

DeMarcus Ware didn't miss any games but had offseason surgery on a shoulder that limited him late in the year.

Tony Romo has been cleared for Sunday's opening practice after missing offseason workouts to have a cyst removed from his back.

"That was a pretty tough hand," Jones said of last season's injury issues on defense. "I said the other day that we are a better team. I probably should have said the better team now than when we finished up last year. We had a healthy Romo, but apart from that, we were pretty banged up."

The newcomers with the strongest chance to start are first-round pick Travis Frederick, who will get most of his work at center, and 10-year veteran Will Allen at safety. Second-year player Matt Johnson, who missed last season with a hamstring injury, is competing with Allen.

"I like how we worked in the offseason," Garrett said. "I like our personnel. I like how our staff has come together. I think we've done a good job as an organization getting younger. We feel good about the decisions we made from a personnel standpoint the last couple of years."

And as Jones reiterated Saturday, he feels good about his head coach.

Elton John Convinces Court To Dismiss 'Nikita' Copyright Case ...

(D Dipasupil/Getty Images)

(D Dipasupil/Getty Images)

In 1985, Elton John had a Top 10 hit on the Billboard 200 with ?Nikita,? the jaunty ballad about unrequited love during the Cold War.

This week, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed a suit claiming that John and his longtime songwriting partner Bernie Taupin plagiarized the hit from ?Natasha,? a song submitted to John?s publisher years before ?Nikita? hit the charts.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ?Natasha? songwriter Guy Hobbs asked the court to acknowledge the similarities between the two songs, including ?a theme of impossible love between a Western man and a Communist woman during the Cold War,? and ?references to written correspondence to the beloved.?

Despite Hobbs? claim that the songs shared too many ?unique combinations? to be a coincidence, the court didn?t agree, stating that copyright law does not cover general ideas, but the specific expression of an idea. While the court conceded that the two songs had some similar characteristics, many of them are ?rudimentary, commonplace, standard, or unavoidable in popular love songs.?

?Because ?Natasha? and ?Nikita? are not ?substantially similar? as a matter of law,? reads the decision, ?Hobb?s copyright infringement claim fails as a matter of law.?

With the lawsuit behind him, John can now focus on upcoming full-length album The Diver, his first solo effort since 2006?s The Captain & the Kid, that?s due for release this September.

Robert Griffin III? of the Washington Redskins send an incriminating texton his wedding day?

Did newlywed Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III send an incriminating text on the day of his wedding?

Hooters waitress and a Virginia Commonwealth University student Meredith Barber has offered up photo proof to bustedcoverage.com that Griffin allegedly sent her a series of racy messages including on the day he said '"I do."

"Come on bae," the QB reportedly wrote to Barber before sending a shirtless image of himself with his head cut off, along with a smiley icon.

PHOTOS: CELEBRITY CHEATING SCANDALS

When Barber didn't respond to his advances he wrote, "Well ok I give up I guess. See you in a few weeks kid."

The texts were dated in the screen shot, July 6 which were the early hours of RG III's wedding day to longtime girlfriend Rebecca Liddicoat.

A Twitter trail was detected by someone named Brandon K., who emailed Busted Coverage with the tip off.

What was found was one of Griffin's groomsman, William Mallow's Twitter timeline allegedly showing activity with Barber on it leading the source to dig back to Barber's feed where a tweet was discovered from the blond that said, "I could show Becky this though," and then posted the screen shot from her cell phone of what is clamined to be RG on his wedding day.

Mallow reportedly wrote into the site denying the reports.

"We both know that Meredith is looking for attention/money. I know this is what you do for a living and you thought that this would be a golden opportunity but the fact of the matter is that this is completely false," he wrote.

"I was with Robert the night in question, and there was zero texting of other girls, much less selfie stomach shots. That isn't even close to what the bathroom of the suite we were in looked like,' reads the missive and includes screen shots of a text exchange Mallow had with Barber in which she claims someone took her phone and wrote the emails."

Barber directly contacted Busted Coverage when their story went live asking them to take it down but in exchange she would sell "inappropriate pictures," more screenshots of chats and texts between her and Griffin.

Someone also claiming to be Barber's ex-boyfriend reached out to Deadspin.com to sell "information, text messages, FaceTime screenshots, pictures, you name it, proving that it was indeed him and he's been up to it for some time," the site reported.

Neither Deadspin or Busted Coverage have purchased any of the proof, in the meantime Griffin was reportedly on his honeymoon in Europe when the news broke.

Microsoft: Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1 offers the best daily browsing experience

IE11 on Windows 8.1

For those who have been testing Windows 8.1 Preview, you most likely are messing around with Internet Explorer 11 Preview as well. In an official blog post today, Microsoft is highlighting Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1 and the company is touting IE11 as the only browser to offer the best daily browsing experience across devices.

"IE11 on Windows 8.1 enables the best daily browsing experience across your devices in a way that feels equally great for touch, mouse and keyboard and is optimized for getting to the sites you love fast and using apps and sites together," Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

We recently reported on this, but Microsoft today brought it up once again that Internet Explorer 11 supports up to 100 tabs per window and can manage these tabs efficiently. According to Microsoft, these tabs that haven't been used recently will not eat up system resources or drain your battery.

IE11 also allows you to access your synced tabs from any connected Windows 8.1 devices as well as show the address bar and tabs at the same time. Microsoft has also fixed up IE11 to instantly present you with a list of frequent sites you are likely to visit, and all you have to do is tap on the address bar or open a new tab.

If you haven't given IE11 a try yet, it comes in Preview form in the recently released Windows 8.1 Preview. You can also check out the video below showcasing the new features in IE11.

Teri's World: A "Virtual" Baby Shower

A "Virtual" Baby Shower

The countdown begins...........................
only 22 more days until her due date.

On Saturday, I hosted a "virtual" baby shower for my daughter.

We are currently living on South Padre Island and the rest of our families and friends are spread out around Texas, Colorado and Illinois. Karl's family from San Antonio drove down for the shower and everyone else joined us via Skype.

Of course, we would have preferred a traditional shower, but it was not possible to get everyone together. We are hoping that many of our friends and family will visit after the baby is born.

I discovered the concept of this type of shower while searching for shower ideas online and decided this would be the best option. We used Skype, I signed up for a premium account so that I could host a group call. We also posted some pictures on Facebook for those that could not participate on the Skype call.

I am making a quilt for the baby

and hope to have it finished before she is born.

I think the shower turned out very well. ?We had a few minor technical problems, but we were able to get everyone on the call. The only call that did not work was when my brother hooked up his computer to a big screen TV. Computers worked fine, but one phone using the Skype app had a few problems.

I charged my camera battery on Friday night. After the shower, I realized that I did not take any photos during the shower because I was monitoring the Skype call, making sure everyone was connected, etc. We were all sitting around the laptop so did not get any photos. We have photos of the setup beforehand and photos of the presents that we posted on Facebook.

I'm wondering if there was some way to record the Skype call to save it.

Thank You to everyone that participated to make this day a success. Thank You for the beautiful gifts for the baby.?

ID emerges of third girl to die of SF plane crash

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ? The name of a girl who died of injuries suffered in the crash-landing of an Asiana Airlines flight in San Francisco has emerged early Saturday.

Chinese state media identified her as Liu Yipeng (LEE'-ow EE'-peng). China News says she went to school with the other two victims killed in last week's accident, a pair of 16-year-old girls.

Liu Yipeng's identification comes a day after her death was announced amid the official confirmation that one of the other girls who died in the disaster had been covered on the runway in flame-retardant foam and hit by a fire truck speeding to the crash site, a disclosure that raised the tragic possibility she could have survived the crash only to die in its chaotic aftermath.

Liu Yipeng, whose name was first reported in the U.S. by KGO-TV, died Friday morning at San Francisco General Hospital where she had been in critical condition since the July 6 accident.

Friends and strangers have left condolences and lit virtual candles on Chinese social media sites in her memory.

Jianshang Education Bureau director Mao Zhuoxing confirmed Liu Yipeng's identity to China News. Her age was not disclosed. All three girls killed were from China.

No one knows yet whether the teenage victims lived through the initial impact at the San Francisco airport. But police and fire officials confirmed Friday that Ye Meng Yuan was hit by a fire truck racing to extinguish the blazing Boeing 777.

"The fire truck did go over the victim at least one time. Now the other question is, 'What was the cause of death?'" San Francisco police spokesman Albie Esparza said. "That's what we are trying to determine right now."

San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault said the results of his initial inquiry into the deaths would likely be released sometime next week. He would not comment on the police investigation.

Ye Meng Yuan's close friend Wang Linjia was among a group of injured passengers who did not get immediate medical help. Rescuers did not spot her until 14 minutes after the crash. Wang Linjia's body was found along with three flight attendants who were flung onto the tarmac.

Moments after the crash, while rescuers tried to help passengers near the burning fuselage, Wang Linjia and some flight attendants lay in the rubble almost 2,000 feet away. A group of survivors called 911 and tried to help them.

Survivors said that after escaping the plane, they sat with at least four victims who appeared to be seriously hurt. They believe one of them was one of the girls who died.

Cindy Stone, who was in that group, was recorded by California Highway Patrol dispatchers calling in for help: "There are no ambulances here. We've been on the ground 20 minutes. There are people lying on the tarmac with critical injuries, head injuries. We're almost losing a woman here. We're trying to keep her alive."

San Francisco fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said Friday that when airport personnel reached the group near the seawall, Linjia was dead. She did not know when the girl had died.

Several flight attendants remain hospitalized.

Talmadge also confirmed that an Associated Press photograph of a body under a yellow tarp near the burned-out jet was Ye Meng Yuan.

The photo, taken from above, shows firefighters looking down at the tarp, and there are truck track marks leading up to it.

Police said the teenager was covered in foam that rescuers had sprayed on the burning wreckage. When the truck moved while battling the flames, rescuers discovered her body, Esparza said.

"The driver may not have seen the young lady in the blanket of foam," said Ken Willette of the National Firefighter Protection Agency, which sets national standards for training airfield firefighters. "These could be factors contributing to this tragic event."

He said fire trucks that responded to the Asiana crash would have started shooting foam while approaching the fuselage from 80 or 100 feet away. The foam was sprayed from a cannon on the top of the truck across the ground to clear a safe path for evacuees. That was supposed to create a layer of foam on the ground that is several inches high before the truck gets to the plane.

The victims were close friends and top students, looking forward to spending a few weeks at a Christian summer camp in California, where they planned to practice English and boosting their chances of attending a U.S. college.

Their parents were flown to San Francisco after their deaths where the Chinese consulate was caring for them.

The crash-landing occurred after the airliner collided with a rocky seawall just short the runway. Dozens of passengers were hurt. There were 182 survivors taken to hospitals, though most suffered only minor injuries.

So far, an investigation indicates the pilots, a trainee and his instructor, failed to realize until too late that the aircraft was dangerously low and flying too slow.

Nothing disclosed so far by the National Transportation Safety Board investigators indicates any problems with the Boeing 777's engines, computers or automated systems.

Also, San Francisco airport officials said that the runway where the jet crashed was reopened Friday evening, and all airlines would resume normal schedules immediately.

Program TAPS into healing process for military families

They ran around Del Monte Beach early Friday, playing silly games, giggling like kids at summer camp, hugging and high-fiving, permitting themselves at long last to step outside their grief and enjoy life again.

Forty middle-aged people from all over the country ? all parents of men and women who died in the U.S. military ? converged on Monterey for the weekend to participate in a retreat sponsored by the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), a national nonprofit group.

The three-day gathering, which concludes Saturday, includes team-building exercises, speedboat rides, horseback riding, a scavenger hunt and, most important, time to bond with others ? parents, like them ? familiar with the emotional pain they endured since the day they learned their child died.

"When the Marines came to our door, one of the first things they told us was that we needed to get in touch with TAPS. I had no idea what TAPS was," said William Griffith, a Virginia Beach, Va. resident whose son, Maj. Sam Griffith, was killed Dec. 14, 2011.

Griffith said his son deliberately made himself a target to distract the enemy who had pinned down his unit in Afghanistan. Maj. Griffith's 20 cohorts, including British Special Operatives and Afghan police, made it home.

"We went first to a national event in Washington, D.C., and attended seminars that basically taught us that what we were feeling, what we were going through, was normal among people

who were in the same situation," Griffith said. "At this (Monterey) event, there are 40 people who have come together to relate the stories of their losses and how they're coping with that loss. You come away from a retreat like this feeling like you know some of these people better than you know members of your own family. The camaraderie is awesome."

Clearly, so was the fun. Team leaders from TAPS joined the staff of Adventures By The Sea, host of the event, to lead campers through games and activities that included hoop-tossing, puzzle solving, sand sculpting, a strange game of tag and a competition in which fruits, vegetables, shellfish and poultry were launched by slingshot to teammates who tried to catch them in beach towels.

"It was good ... very good," said Alicia Steward, a Modesto mother whose son, Senior Airman James Carlton Steward III, died 365 days earlier at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida.

"If you break down in tears, or laugh, or just space out in the middle of a sentence, the people around you here understand why. Your brain kind of disconnects when you get the notification."

Airman Steward committed suicide, his mother said. An American on active military duty commits suicide every 25 hours and about 20 veterans kill themselves every day.

"It's amazing to be among those who understand your pain," said Bunnie Jacquai, a San Diego resident whose son, Army Sgt. Cody Legg, was killed June 4, 2008, in Iraq, along with two squad members he was attempting to rescue. "To be in a setting like this, where you can laugh and cry and instantly become kindred souls ... it's just priceless."

TAPS was founded in 1984 by Bonnie Carroll, whose husband died in a plane crash while on active duty in Alaska.

"What Bonnie discovered through her own experience was that there wasn't a lot of support offered to the families of people who had been lost in the military," said Erin Jacobson, a deputy director with TAPS. "So she decided to fill that void by creating this organization."

TAPS has 44,000 people in its database, many of whom participate in the annual convention in Washington, D.C., or one of the retreats the organization stages each year in places such as Nashville, Tenn., Lake Placid, N.Y., Savannah, Fla., and other venues.

"It gives people a comfort that comes with connecting with people who are in the same situation they're in," said Renee Martone, a retreats coordinator for TAPS. "At home they don't always have that safety net of being around people who are living through a similar experience."

Griffith said his first retreat, in Lake Placid, left he and his wife exhausted after four days, but craving more.

"When it was over, we went back to our lives," he said. "We all felt like we not only had lost our children, but now we had to say goodbye to our friends, too. We weren't ready to go home because we knew we had to wait till the next retreat before we'd see everybody again."

The Rise of Artificial Intelligence Is Absolutely Fascinating

We poke fun at Siri and pretend to get scared by Humanoid robots and make our neck hair stand up straight by watching quadrocopters do amazing things but the truth is, artificial intelligence is still pretty dumb. But that's going to change! The rise of artificial intelligence is happening and they're learning a lot more about us because we're learning more about them. Sort of.

PBS' always excellent Off Book series takes a look at AI and how we're developing robots who can process things like vision, understand language and manipulate objects. The relationship and challenge in creating a robotic brain (or intelligence) is similar to how we've been able to create airplanes using a bird's aerodynamics as an inspiration. PBS says:

Artificial intelligence is an ever evolving goal for researchers, and the object of endless fascination for writers, filmmakers, and the general public. But despite our best science fiction visions, creating digital intelligence is incredibly difficult. The universe is a very complicated place, and humans have had millions of years to evolve the ability to navigate and make sense of it. Contemporary attempts to create AI have us looking more at how our own brains work to see how a computer could simulate the core activities that create our intelligence. No matter how we get there, it is certain that artificial intelligence will have tremendous impact on our society and economy, and lead us down a path towards evolving our own definitions of humanity.

The future and all that. [PBS Off Book]

July 13, 2013, 6:14am ? Amid rumors that the Google Nexus 7 is getting a new model this quarter, third-party retailers online have cut the price of the 16GB Nexus 7 tablet computer, from the original or official price tag of $199 to $149 to $189. For the 32GB model, prices are down to $170 to $200 from $249.

Retailers on eBay and Amazon also started nudging down prices, we saw one retailer on eBay selling the Nexus 7 for $150 and offering shipping to other countries. Selling the Nexus 7 on other countries is a hit because the Google Play Store?s coverage is limited to America and other major markets only.

According to reports, Google and ASUS will launch the new Nexus 7 this quarter, and it will run the latest version of Android Jelly Bean mobile operating system. And unlike last year?s model, the new Nexus 7 will reportedly offer a back-facing camera, a more efficient processors from Qualcomm and a new display technology with more pixels per square inch.

Additional reports posted on the web also suggest that the release date of the new Nexus 7 is scheduled this month.
