Your local college or university may offer interior decorating courses, even if it doesn?t offer a certificate in interior decorating. Through the continuing education department you may be able to take a single course on a Saturday or over several evenings, and learn about color, wall coverings, or other decorating topics. Not only can this be a valuable learning experience, you can also list any decorating courses you have taken on your resume.
If you can?t find a listing for the continuing education department in your local phone book, call the college?s main switchboard and ask for the continuing education department. They will be able to tell you about upcoming courses.
In addition to colleges and universities, you may find courses in basic decorating techniques offered by:
- local high schools
- business colleges (check the Yellow Pages under ?schools?)
- retailers such as fabric stores
